The challenge
Projects had to prove every claim, and the evidence was scattered
To issue carbon credits under Verra, a project proves every claim with traceable evidence, and a third party audits it. The evidence lived in email, KoboToolbox, spreadsheets, ArcGIS and chat, and the audit trail was put together by hand at the end of the process.
Who it serves
Two people build the record
One works in the office, the other in the field. Straatos connects their work without changing how either of them works.
Process · swimlane
Each phase of a project has a clear owner
The project developer and the field technician each own their part of the work. Straatos has its own lane because it moves the data between them, and prepares it for Verra at the end.
Visual system
Visual identity
Straatos uses a teal palette with coral as the accent. The icon set covers the fauna, flora and field markers that projects record. The components below are live, so you can hover them to see their states.
Data gathering
Field data comes in without changing how the team collects it
Field technicians already used KoboToolbox to collect data offline, so we kept their flow and connected it to Straatos. Each answer maps one to one to a field in Straatos, and new subjects are created when the device has signal again.
Data visualisation
Every module reads from the same record
Plots, planting cycles, monitoring campaigns and calculations all use the data collected in the field. The numbers in the calculations are the same ones the verifier reads at the end.
Next steps
An offline app for the field and automatic submission to Verra
There are two next steps, one for each person who builds the record.
